LYRICS - WHEN THE SERPENT FLIES

     Future Blues

     Got off the job today
     Took off a different way
     Got home and knew
What we were no longer buying  into

     Yesterday evening there
     Caught in the tv glare
     We saw ourselves
     Changing our point of view
Turn around the things we do
Telling no secrets and believing their lies

     How are you gonna run
     How will you hide
How are you gonna feel when worlds collide
     Future
     Past
     Who will be the first
     Who the last...to know

     Those vessels in the sky
     Earth populations fly
     Will they go bearing gifts
     Of cynanide or silver

“Bred in the bone,” they say
     “Light of a future day.”
     We call them wise
Do we change our point of view
Turn around the things we do
Telling their secrets and believing no lies

     How are we gonna run
     How will we hide
     How are we gonna feel
     When worlds collide
     Future
     Past
     Who will be the first
     Who the last...to go.........

      Beauty/Beast

     In the early morning
Just before the light comes in
Its the nature of the Beast
To prowl his Manor’s forest land

     Beauty, who’s asleep now
     And passes her time slumbering
     Finds this prince of shadows
     Agitates her land of dreams

     Only in the forest
     Only in the ancient days
Could a spell like this be cast
At least that’s what I’ve heard them say

     Beauty is asleep now
     Passing it’s time slumbering
     And a prince of shadows
     Agitates your land of dreams

     Traded for a flower
     Housed behind a bower
     Now her would-be lover
     Hesitates and hovers
How long must he long for her
Until she hears his song for her
     Until his mantle falls away
     Her reticence in disaray
This Beast has come and gone today
And has revealed his beauty ...

     In the early morning
Just before the light comes in...

     Winged Serpent

     Turn your clocks around
     This is the real time
     And while we steal time
     Let the show begin

     Every now and then
     In some chosen generation
Everything begins to turn around - even upside down
Depending on your view of it

     Won’t you listen me
Won’t you turn that phone in
Will it make or break you
     To ignore the new spin

     You can take my keys
     And my two tvs
But I won’t confess to anything
If it doesn’t make my heart sing

     Flying with eyes on fire
Singing a song that some can hear
We could find each other in suspended hours
Couldn’t we escape to find suspended hours

When the serpent flies -he doesn’t creep along
Everybody who’s asleep - with their cell phones on                                                            With who to call - and who to tell
But what you hear when you can chill is ...

Let me tell a story I heard when I was small
Then I heard it in the hall the other day
“The lion and the lamb reclined”
“The lion and the lamb reclined”

     Flying with eyes on fire
Singing a song that some can hear
We could find each other in suspended hours
Couldn’t we escape to find suspended hours...

     Underminers...sycophants...
     Everybody’s got to rant.
     Tell the meteor to ride
     Everything is flying crazy
And just wheen you’ve been feeling hazy...
     Recklessly you climb...
     Recklessly you climb...
     Recklessly you climb...

     Smoke and Mirrors

Through the alley down the stairs
     Slipping into some sweet lair.......

When the lights blur through a scrim
     Shadows hide a glistening......

In a hallway lit by sparks
Find a dazzling in the dark......

What is clear, now in mist
Smoke and mirrors bind their tryst......

     Mystery and magic
     Haunt you through the day
     In the night’s illusion
     Is a passion play
     Smoke and mirrors

     Open up the proper door
     There are conjurers in store......

What you get is what you see
Better make your wish a blessing......

Here a vision, there a masque
Now we’re in the magic act......

What is not and what is true
     Whisper paradox to you......

     Like the world of legend
     Like the world of song
     Bathe me in your footlights
     Leave me there too long
     Smoke and mirrors

LYRICS - MERCURY

Mercury Man

The night is a silver hue
The time is a quarter to two
I gaze through the dim at figures that swim into my view .....

Crowds at the avenue's bend
Now float in a mercury blend
The shutter, the lens, make their light and their shadows dance again .....

Well, I'll be madder than a hatter but it won't stop me
The mercury is in my veins
The light and shadow are the nature of my ecstacy
And are the reason for my pain

Now,  rise in your mercury haze
You faces from previous days
In spirits you live, in vapors you give me what I crave .....

Well, I'll be madder than a hatter but it won't stop me
The mercury is in my veins
The light and shadow are the nature of my ecstacy
And are the reason for my pain

Oh. Quicksilver, sing to me
The song that we know has to be
Release me from sin ..... I see that the light and shadow win

 Parallel Lines

I am a capsule in a sea-like home
You are a blossom in a wall of stone
You give the answers,  I give you endless dreams
Come back tomorrow and wake me from my sleep.....

I never noticed how we'd run in place
Until the time I met you face to face
You turn the corner and the dance of life begins
Ulterior motives shed their weary skins .....

You give the answers,  I give you dreams
We won't try again to rely on some outmoded schemes

Called by the ripples at the water's edge
Called by the cyrus and the nimbus ledge
We were the refugees who fled the carbon grid
Mystified and breathless,  there we stood .....

LYRICS - THURSDAY NIGHT @ MILLERS

 Willowland

In the Willowland
People live up high
Stars go tumbling by
You can catch them in your hand
But only if you try .....

You can only reach the shores of this land
In a boat with half a sail
Other modes will fail
You can ask the water folk who tell this tale.........
of the Willowland .....
